Welcome to the web journal of Stephen G. Weaver. Steve is an award-winning professional landscape and nature photographer as well as an academic geologist working as the Technical Director of Geology at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He has been practicing the art of nature photography for over 35 years and travels throughout North America pursuing his creative passion of capturing the beauty and wonders of the natural world. In 1995 he started Earth Systems Imaging to market and sell stock photography and fine-art landscape and nature prints.
Artist Statement:
For as long as I can remember I have been drawn to the environment and spirit of the natural world. As a child growing up in rural Pennsylvania, I “went to the woods” to experience, learn and explore. It was the beginning of my journey to “see” nature. Today almost a half-century later I am still on that quest to experience, understand and “see” the natural world.
As a geological scientist my goal is to explore, analyze and try to understand the workings of the planet’s composition, structure and processes. As an artist, my goal is to visually capture the essence of the environment and communicate my vision of the natural world by extracting images that evoke a Sense of Place and transport the viewer into the environment I am photographing on both intimate and grand scales. If I am successful, I believe that the image will “speak” to the viewer and evoke emotion. I am truly passionate in this quest to communicate the visual beauty of the natural world and hope that viewers of my work will come to appreciate the wonderful complexities of this planet and help work to preserve it.

Good Morning,
Your Photos are amazing! I found your site as it appears that we have in common, the beauty which we see in landscapes… My question however, is regarding setting up a wordpress page.. I am not a photographer, I have lived in Vail for the past 23 years and have had to relocate to Maryland as my parents live here and are getting a little older… I am having a hard time figuring out how the plugins actually work… Which plug in are you using for your galleries, if that is ok to ask? I will figure out somehow how to make them work however, I love the way that your photo’s are displayed with the text below. I have installed and activated a few plugins so far however, I cannot figure out how to actually make them show up in my “Plugins”
menu in the sidebar…
